The Role of Soil Organic Matter
- The main source of soil nutrients.
Organic matter contains all kinds of nutrients needed for crop growth, which can be directly or simply grounded to provide nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur and various trace elements for crop growth. Especially, more than 95% of nitrogen in soil exists in organic state. Because soil minerals generally do not contain nitrogen, the main source of soil nitrogen is provided after the decomposition of organic matter, except for the nitrogen fertilizer applied. Carbon dioxide produced by the decomposition of soil organic matter can supply green plants for photosynthesis. In addition, organic matter is also an important source of phosphorus, sulfur, calcium, magnesium and trace elements in the soil.
- Promote the growth and development of crops
Hu Min acid in organic matter can enhance plant respiration, membrane permeability and nutrient absorption. Meanwhile, vitamins and some hormones in organic matter can promote plant growth and development.
